Bracketverse Bracket engine

Any format.
One bracket engine.

Give it a list of names and a format. It returns a complete tree — every node wired, every progression path resolved, laid out and ready to publish. Scroll to watch a 16-entry bracket build itself, node by node.

01Formats

Nine formats.
One config object.

Change one field and everything downstream re-derives: round count, node graph, progression paths, bye placement, tiebreak order. There is no second layout to maintain and nothing to re-enter.

  • Elimination Single, double, with or without a losers'-final bracket reset
  • Groups Round robin, double round robin, GSL groups feeding a playoff
  • Swiss Buchholz or median-Buchholz pairing over a configurable round count
  • Ladder Continuous challenge ladder with decay windows and lock-outs
  • Multi-stage Chain any of the above — each stage seeds the next from its standings

02Field & seeding

16 names in.
Seeded and folded.

Paste a list, upload a CSV, or pipe in an array. Seeds resolve from ranking points, a previous bracket's standings, or the order you dragged them into — and then the fold decides who can possibly meet whom, and when.

  • Input Paste, CSV, JSON array, or a finished bracket's final standings
  • Seeding Points, Elo, last placement, manual drag, or seeded-random you can replay
  • Protection Keep declared rivals apart until a round you choose
  • Byes Auto-balanced across the top seeds for any non-power-of-two field

03Generate

The tree wires itself.

One call builds every node, links every progression path, and returns the layout coordinates with it. Fifteen nodes, four rounds, zero connections drawn by hand.

  • Fold order 1v16, 8v9, 5v12, 4v13 … mirrored each round so seeds never collide early
  • Graph Every node knows its parent, its slot in that parent, and its feeders
  • Coordinates Positions come back with the tree — render it in SVG, canvas or WebGL
  • Rebuild Switch formats in place; recorded results survive wherever pairings do

04Customize

Make it look like yours.

Every visual decision is a token, not a fork. Set a palette, a direction, a density and a wordmark once, save it as a preset, and every bracket you publish afterwards inherits it — including the ones already live.

  • Iris
  • Signal
  • Moss
  • Graphite
  • Palette Accent, surface and status colours as plain CSS variables
  • Direction Left-to-right, right-to-left, top-down, or mirrored two-sided
  • Density Compact, standard or roomy node scale — the tree relaxes to match
  • Branding Entry logos, wordmark, custom round labels, your own footer

05Results Editing

Type a score.
The bracket moves.

Open a node, enter the result, submit. The winner travels along its path, the next node fills in, and standings recompute. Every edit is reversible — undo a node and the tree unwinds behind it with the audit trail intact.

  • Entry Per-game or series score, walkovers, forfeits, double byes
  • Propagation Winners advance; losers drop to the lower bracket where the format says so
  • Reversible Undo any node — downstream unwinds and re-locks on its own
  • Locking Freeze a node or a whole round against further edits

06Standings

Finished, and already tabulated.

When the last node resolves, the bracket closes itself. Placements order, ties break by the rules you set, and the whole thing freezes into an addressable record you can cite, diff or feed straight into the next one.

  • Placements The full ordering, not just the top four
  • Tiebreaks Head-to-head, game differential, Buchholz, or a recorded coin flip
  • Snapshot Immutable and addressable — diff it against any earlier state
  • Rollover Pipe final standings into the next bracket as its seed order

07Publish

One tree. Every surface.

The same bracket renders as a live page, an embed, a transparent browser source and a print-ready vector. One source of truth, six destinations, all of them updating the moment a node changes.

  1. 01 Share link A live page that updates itself. No account needed to view it, no stale copy to re-send when a result lands.
  2. 02 Embed One iframe or a web component. Inherits your theme preset, resizes to its container, works inside any CMS.
  3. 03 Overlay Transparent browser source pre-sized for 1080p and 1440p, with a compact mode that only shows the live round.
  4. 04 Vector SVG and PDF at any dimension. Print a wall bracket at A0 with the type still crisp and the lines still hairline.
  5. 05 Image PNG snapshot of any state, including mid-bracket — useful for recaps and for posting a round as it completes.
  6. 06 Data JSON and CSV of the node graph, seeds and results. Typed REST, idempotent writes, replayable webhooks.
